Roundup: UC golfers finish 2nd in WVC

A final-round score of 312 helped the University of Charleston men's golf team capture a second-place finish at the West Virginia Conference Championship Tuesday at Glade Springs Resort.

John Carbone paced the Charleston effort with a three-round total of 225, just five shots off the championship lead, for a fourth place individual finish. Jamin Smith was eighth for UC after a final round 79 brought his tournament total to 229.

UC finished 16 shots off victorious Concord and 14 shots ahead of third-place Bluefield State.

  • 100th TOURNEY DINNER: The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission is now selling tickets to the 100th Celebration Dinner on March 12 in conjunction with the boys basketball tournament in Charleston.

    Individual tickets are $35 each, while a reserved table for 10 is $400.

    Those that purchase tickets will receive a complementary pictorial book highlighting the last 100 years of high school boys basketball in the state.
