WVC: Shepherd looks to bounce back at W.Va. State
Advertiser

Perennnial West Virginia Conference power Shepherd will be looking to bounce back from its first league loss of the season today when it visits Institute for a 1 p.m. kickoff against West Virginia State.

The Rams (5-2 overall, 4-1 WVC) were dealt their first conference loss last week, a 17-16 setback at the hands of West Liberty. That loss knocked Shepherd out of the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.

The Rams will be looking to extend State's most recent slide. The Yellow Jackets (2-5, 1-3), who lost last week at Glenville State, haven't won since picking up a rare road victory at Seton Hill on Sept. 29.

Fresh off its win over Shepherd, West Liberty (4-3, 3-2) hosts Charleston at 1 p.m. The Golden Eagles (6-1, 3-1) remain in the hunt for a WVC championship, and a win over the Hilltoppers could vault UC into the Top 25.

Other games today include Glenville State (3-1, 3-4) visiting West Virginia Wesleyan (1-3, 2-5), Fairmont State (2-2, 2-4) playing host to Seton Hill (0-5, 0-7) and Concord (4-3) hitting to road to take on Big South Conference member Liberty (Va.) in non-conference action.
