Elkins High football player reinstated
Advertiser

Randolph County's Schools superintendent Dr. James Phares directed Elkins Principal David Fincham to reinstate a football player who was ruled ineligible earlier this week to the squad's eligibility roster Friday, according to a report on The Inter-Mountain newspaper website.

The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission ruled Wednesday that Elkins senior running back L.J. Lawrence is ineligible to play. Officials said the investigation was prompted by a complaint submitted from a resident in a neighboring county. The ruling took the Tigers from a 7-2 record to an 0-9 mark.

Phares also said Friday the school system will file a complaint Monday about this week's ruling that Lawrence is ineligible.
