MORGANTOWN - West Virginia University's football team suffered an excruciating loss Saturday, but its men's basketball team made two significant gains.

Mountaineer coach Bob Huggins received commitments from two of Ohio's best big men.

One came from 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward Devin Williams, a four-star recruit according to most major scouting services.

Williams is currently at Monteverde (Fla.) Academy, but is a product of Cincinnati. He's ranked No. 84 of ESPN's 100 list and is No. 90 nationally according to Rivals.

Called the No. 1 power forward from Ohio, Williams also had offers from Ohio State and Memphis.

Meanwhile, big man Elijah Macon, who previously committed to WVU from Huntington Prep, committed again Saturday night.

After failing to qualify academically, Macon went to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, where he just had his first practice. Also 6-8, Macon is a 245-pound standout who also hails from Ohio, a product of Marion-Franklin High.

"A lot of things have been going on," Macon said by phone. "But I'll be there. I've got my grades together now and I'm ready to go."
