Withrow named C-USA soccer player of year

Marshall goalkeeper Daniel Withrow was named co-Conference USA player of the year, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Withrow, a Rochester Hills, Mich., native with family in Charleston, recorded 91/2 shutouts and a goals-against average of 0.52, both best in the league and fifth in the nation. He shared the honor with another keeper, Southern Methodist's Jaime Ibarra.

Marshall finished 11-5-1 overall, 3-5 in a one of the better leagues in NCAA Division I. The Thundering Herd was denied a spot in the C-USA tournament when Central Florida scored in the final seconds of the season finale, stealing a 1-0 win.
