Southern Miss led just 57-53 when UC's Hayden Annett knocked down one of his four 3-pointers with 5:32 left in the game. But Brooks responded with back-to-back 3s and the hosts stayed in front by at least 10 points the rest of the way.
For UC, Evan Faulkner scored 21 points, Annett 12 and Xavier Humphrey 11. Terrell Lipkins dished out eight assists. UC trailed on the boards 46-30.
