Charleston running back Jordan Roberts earned the West Virginia Conference offensive player of the week award on Sunday after his record-setting performance Saturday.
Roberts rushed for 301 yards and five touchdowns in a 62-0 win over West Virginia State. 273 of those yards came in the first half, setting a new Division II-mark.
Teammate Puma Nuredini won the special teams player of the week after booting two field goals and eight extra points while averaging 52 yards on two punts.
West Liberty's Marco Richetti won the defensive player of the week award after recording 10 tackles, an interception, and a pass break-up in the Hilltoppers' 23-22 win over UNC Pembroke on Saturday.
n Shepherd's Kasey Mercier was named the WVC volleyball player of the week on Sunday.
Mercier led the Rams to a 2-0 week after registering 24 kills and 30 digs with a hitting percentage of .400.
PREP FOOTBALL: Class A No. 1 Tucker County earned a 27-14 win over Moorefield in the team's first home playoff game in school history on Saturday.
Derek Nestor had 174 yards and a score through the air and also had 54 yards rushing for the Mountain Lions. Austin Kirk and Zach Armstrong each added a touchdown and the duo was responsible for 146 rushing ayards.
No. 16 Moorefield was led by DaSean Brown's 134 rushing yards.
Tucker County will host No. 8 Clay-Battelle at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
WVU RIFLE: The No. 1 West Virginia rifle team earned a 4,697-4,596 win over visiting N.C. State on Sunday.
