  • WVU SPORTS: The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recognized three WVU runners that earned All-Region awards in Division I following this weekend's NCAA Regional Championships. Senior Sarah-Anne Brault and freshmen Kelly Williams and Sydney Scott were honored after finishing in seventh, 22nd and 24th place, respectively, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Brault moves on to the NCAA Championships.

  • The West Virginia wrestling team had four wrestlers place in the top six at the Wolfpack Open Sunday. Nathan Pennesi (133) led the way by placing third, while A.J. Vizcarrondo (197) and Tre Miller-Scott (149) both placed fourth. In addition, freshman Mark Colabucci (184) took sixth in his bracket.
  • The No. 1-ranked WVU rifle team picked up its second Great American Rifle Conference win in three days and pushed its win streak to seven with a 4697-4596 victory over visiting No. 13 N.C. State Sunday. The Mountaineers (7-0) swept the Wolfpack in both guns, winning air rifle 2,358-2,317 and smallbore 2,339-2,279. Five shooters combined for the team's scores, including Petra Zublasing, Daniel Sojka, Taylor Ciotola, Meelis Kiisk and Garrett Spurgeon.

  • MU VOLLEYBALL: Following a 2-0 weekend in which the Marshall volleyball team swept Tulane and UTEP and secured the No. 6 seed for the Conference USA tournament, junior outside hitter Laura Der was named Conference USA Offensive player of the week. Der led C-USA for the week with 6.17 kills per set and 0.83 service aces per set.

  • WVC HONORS: Shepherd's Chad Moore has been named the West Virginia Conference men's basketball player of the week. Moore averaged 27.5 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Bowie State and a loss to East Stroudsburg.

  • MEMORIAL RUN: St. Albans High School hosts the 5th annual Nick Caldwell Memorial 5K Run at 9 a.m. Saturday.

    The entry fee is $20, or $25 on day of the race. Proceeds will benefit the Nick Caldwell Memorial Scholarship Fund, awarded to one or more deserving graduating seniors at St. Albans High School. For more information or to download a race application, visit www.nickcaldwell5krun.com.

  • AWARDS BANQUET: The 2012 West Virginia Challenged Athlete of the Year's banquet and awards ceremony will be held tonight at 6 at the Marriott in downtown Charleston.
