WVU's Smith finalist for Unitas Award

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia University senior quarterback Geno Smith was named one of five finalists Thursday for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is given to the top college signal-caller in the country.

Southern California's Matt Barkley, Kansas State's Collin Klein, Florida State's E.J. Manuel and Alabama's A.J. McCarron were also finalists from the original field of 29 players. The Unitas Award will be presented Dec. 7 in Baltimore, Md.

Smith has passed for 3,041 yards, a 71.3 completion percentage and 31 touchdowns. In his career he has thrown for 10,498 yards and 87 TDs.
