Roundup: No. 1 Wheeling Jesuit, No. 2 Seton Hill advance to WVC volleyball finals
The top seeds advanced to today's West Virginia Conference volleyball championship as No. 1 Wheeling Jesuit and No. 2 Seton Hill each won semifinal matches at the University of Charleston.
Wheeling Jesuit defeated Fairmont State 25-14, 25-20, 25-23 behind a 25-assist, 10-kill game from Jenna Pew, the WVC player of the year.
Seton Hill also advanced to the title game in straight sets, beating UC 25-16, 26-24, 25-17. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. today.
MU HOOPS: Marshall women's basketball coach Matt Daniel announced the signing of five recruits to national letters of intent on Friday.
The group includes two West Virginia natives - Kiana Evans from Huntington High and McKenzie Akers from Princeton - along with high school teammates Jonelle Britt and Maya Singleton from Maryland and Chelsey Romero from Hampton, Va.
WVU CROSS COUNTRY: WVU senior Sarah-Anne Brault will compete in today's NCAA championship race at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
It is the fourth time Brault has qualified for the NCAA championship race. She finished in seventh place at last weekend's NCAA Mid Atlantic regional.
