Denzel Dillingham poured in 21 points as Lenoir-Rhyne College grabbed a 64-51 win over West Virginia State in the final day of the Pickle Classic in Saturday Mount Olive, N.C.
David Ford and Anton Hutchins had 11 points apiece for the Yellow Jackets (2-2), while Victor Sharpe added 10.
TECH WOMEN: The WVU Tech women's basketball team closed out the Milligan College Classic with a 71-67 loss to Virginia Intermont College Saturday in Milligan, Tenn.
Amber Tully and Nia Nolan led the Golden Bears (4-4) in scoring with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Courtney Sturdivant grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and dished out four assists. Kayla Orrick netted a game-high 16 points for the Cobras (4-4).
WVU WOMEN: West Virginia held the University of South Carolina Upstate to 18 points in the second half en route to a 75-45 victory Saturday afternoon in a women's basketball matchup at the Coliseum in Morgantown.
The Mountaineers bench combined for 53 points, led by freshman Bria Holmes' career-best 14 points. Freshman Jennie Simms added 11 points, including a 6-of-6 effort at the free-throw line, while sophomore Crystal Leary had nine points and 10 rebounds.
WVU sophomore Averee Fields donated 10 points and four steals while senior Ayana Dunning recorded nine points and eight boards.
WVU freshman Makenzie White, a former standout at Scott High School, went 0 for 2 from 3-point range and had a steal in four minutes.
The Mountaineers take on LSU at 8 p.m. Friday in the Thanksgiving Classic in Miami, Fla.
MU WOMEN: Marshall women's team jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead and the Thundering Herd cruised to a 70-45 win over Ball State Saturday at the Cam Henderson Center.
