WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- Former West Virginia University athletic director Ed Pastilong has joined a team that is raising money for West Liberty University.

Pastilong, a Moundsville native, was WVU's A.D. from 1989 through 2010.

West Liberty development director Angela Zambito-Hill called Pastilong a visionary who will focus on athletic fundraising for the Northern Panhandle school.

At WVU, Pastilong oversaw about $65 million in facilities renovations, more than doubled the athletic department budget and steered WVU into the Big East athletic conference. This year, the school moved into the Big 12 Conference.

West Liberty launched the fundraising campaign, its largest ever, last month.

The school has about 2,700 students and a faculty and staff of 433. It had been in a silent phase of fundraising for several years.
