For State (4-4, 2-2), David Ford scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Anthony Hutchins and Juan Johnson each scored eight for the Yellow Jackets.
West Liberty accounted for 32 assists and 10 turnovers as a team while State finished with just one assist and 26 turnovers.

Brooke, George Washington, Riverside, Jefferson, Lewis County, Logan, Wheeling Park and Winfield will compete in Class AAA. In AA, East Fairmont, Independence, Liberty Raleigh, Robert C. Byrd, Lincoln, Mingo Central, North Marion and Tolsia will participate. Wheeling Central, Fayetteville, Tug Valley, South Harrison, Moorefield, Williamstown, Tyler Consolidated and Wahama are in the Class A field.
Brooke (AAA) is the only defending champion returning while Tug Valley (AA) and Clay-Battelle (A) failed to make it out of regionals.

nnWVU RIFLE: Following a three-week stay at No. 2, the West Virginia rifle team has reclaimed the No. 1 ranking in Tuesday's Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll.
The Mountaineers' (9-0) ranking is based on their team average of 4716.0. TCU dropped to No. 2, while Kentucky held steady at No. 3. WVU, along with the Horned Frogs and the Wildcats, have combined to win the last four NCAA titles, with TCU claiming its second championship in three seasons in 2012.
nnWVSU SOFTBALL: West Virginia State University announced the signing of seven players, including St. Albans standout Ali Haynes and Point Pleasant's Megan Davis.
Haynes, a first-team all-state pick, struck out 115 in 119 innings, posted a 1.18 earned run average and hit for a .368 average last season. Davis is an infielder-outfielder who hit .367 last season.
nnHAYDEN DRAFTED: The Panama City (Fla.) Breeze of the newly formed American Basketball League has drafted former WVU Tech men's basketball standout Eddie Hayden.
Hayden was the fourth pick in the second round of the draft. He led WVU Tech in rebounding (7.9 per game) and was second in scoring (14.7 per game) during the 2011-2012 season as the Golden Bears won the Mid-South Conference regular-season championship.
