Prep roundup: GE boys drub Fayetteville

Rondale Watson scored 20 points to lead host Greenbrier East past Fayetteville 83-34 in both teams' boys basketball season opener Tuesday night.

Owen Browning added 13 points and Bryce Woodliff chipped in 11 points and eight assists for the Spartans. Obi Romeo had eight points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for East. Aaron Krise had nine points for Fayetteville.  

  • SCOTT 62, LINCOLN COUNTY 52: Anthony Sigmon scored 17 and Eric May added 16 to lead Scott (1-0) to a win at Lincoln County. For the Panthers (0-1), Tate Bragg had a team-high 14 points while Tyler Jeffers scored 12 and Kenny Holton scored 10.
  • SHERMAN 62, HANNAN 47: Blake Brewer scored 19 points and Cody Muncy had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Sherman to a season-opening win at Hannan. Duncan Breeden pulled down 12 rebounds for the Tide (1-0). For Hannan, Tyler Burns scored a team-high 11 points while Ty Paige and Paul Holley each finished with 10 points.
  • CALVARY 50, ELK VALLEY 42: Jace Heller scored 27 points to lead Calvary Baptist (4-0) to a home win against Elk Valley Christian. Trey Suttle scored 16 to lead Elk Valley (0-1) with Jordan Elkins adding 10 points.
  • ELKINS 64, HAMPSHIRE 58: Logan Phillips netted 18 points as Elkins posted a season-opening road win. Colby Gainer added 14 for Elkins (1-0). Travis Clower scored 20 for Hampshire (0-1).

  • WINFIELD 66, LINCOLN COUNTY 37: Haylea Robers scored 22 points to pace Winfield (1-0) in its win against visiting Lincoln County.
