Prep basketball: Ord's board, bucket lift Poca girls past Buffalo

Paula Ord grabbed an offensive rebound and scored with 11 seconds left in overtime to give Poca the lead and the Dots held on for a dramatic 50-48 win over visiting Buffalo in a girls basketball game on Thursday night.

Madi McGrew led all scorers with 22 points for Poca (1-2) and McKenzie Ball added 10 points. Ord finished with 12.

Chelsey Parkins scored 18 points to pace the Bison (3-1).

  • CHAPMANVILLE 78, HOOVER 48: Four Chapmanville players scored in double-figures to lead the Tigers to a Cardinal Conference win.
  • For Chapmanville (2-0, 2-0 Cardinal Conference), Katelynn Manns scored 18 points, Jessica Rideout had 13, Hailey Price 12 and Hillary Hainer 11. Katelynn Hall scored eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Kristen Desrocher had four points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

    Caroline Thornburg led Herbert Hoover (0-1, 0-1) with 18 points.

  • RIVERSIDE 46, POINT 42: Brittany Wood scored 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as visiting Riverside held on for a win. Rachel Mills led the Warriors (1-2) with 20 points.
  • Katie Bruner scored 20 points to pace Point Pleasant (1-3) and Andrea Porter added 11.

  • SISSONVILLE 67, WAYNE 21: Sissonville (2-0) jumped out to a 43-13 halftime lead and never looked back.
  • Madison Jones led the host Indians with 16 points, while Karli Pinkerton and Ellie McClung had 12 apiece. Taylor Bartrum had a team-high five points for the Pioneers (0-3).

  • CROSS LANES 47, VAN 26: Courtney Kendrick and Julianna Lowery each scored 15 points and Cross Lanes Christian held host Van to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
  • Kendrick and Catherine Legg each pulled down 11 rebounds for Cross Lanes (1-1). Stevie White led Van with 12 points.

  • WESTSIDE 74, PIKEVIEW 34: Hope Lester scored 16 points while Faith Davis and Morgan Spolarich each finished with 13 points for Westside.
