Prep basketball: Ord's board, bucket lift Poca girls past Buffalo
Paula Ord grabbed an offensive rebound and scored with 11 seconds left in overtime to give Poca the lead and the Dots held on for a dramatic 50-48 win over visiting Buffalo in a girls basketball game on Thursday night.
Madi McGrew led all scorers with 22 points for Poca (1-2) and McKenzie Ball added 10 points. Ord finished with 12.
Chelsey Parkins scored 18 points to pace the Bison (3-1).
For Chapmanville (2-0, 2-0 Cardinal Conference), Katelynn Manns scored 18 points, Jessica Rideout had 13, Hailey Price 12 and Hillary Hainer 11. Katelynn Hall scored eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Kristen Desrocher had four points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Caroline Thornburg led Herbert Hoover (0-1, 0-1) with 18 points.
Katie Bruner scored 20 points to pace Point Pleasant (1-3) and Andrea Porter added 11.
Madison Jones led the host Indians with 16 points, while Karli Pinkerton and Ellie McClung had 12 apiece. Taylor Bartrum had a team-high five points for the Pioneers (0-3).
Kendrick and Catherine Legg each pulled down 11 rebounds for Cross Lanes (1-1). Stevie White led Van with 12 points.
Lester also accounted for 15 rebounds while Spolarich had eight assists, Davis finished with five steals and Megan Endicott totaled seven points and 11 rebounds.
For PikeView (1-1), Hope Nester scored a team-high 12 points in the loss.
Mykenzie Martin added 15 points for the Grizzlies (3-0). Jamie Bailey netted seven points for Richwood (0-2).
Murray finished the game with 22 points and 15 rebounds, while Taylor Youell chipped in 15 and Melonna Carmichael 13. Emily Cade netted 14 for Doddridge County.
Zach Meadows paced PikeView (0-1) with 19 points and Logan McKinney chipped in 13.
Obi Romeo led the Spartans (2-0) with 12 rebounds in the win. For James Monroe (0-1), Chord Settle was the leading scorer with six points.
Grant Humphrey added 12 points in the win for the Warriors. Brandon Elswick scored a team-high 13 points for Van.
