"She's shown against adults and beaten them. It's pretty remarkable. She puts a lot into it. She is the youngest one I have. She can be as good as she wants to be. It takes a lot of work. It's not easy. She's way ahead of her age and schedule. The future is just limitless.

"For her the satisfaction is she knows she gave everything she had. Sometimes you don't get the ribbon you deserve. I can't say enough about what a good kid she is. Everybody in our barn, and we have probably 20-some clients all over the United States, everybody loves her. She always takes time out to help someone else.''

Johnson began riding when she was 7 years old and started competing at 9.

"When she started riding with [Clouse] they just jelled,'' said Jennifer Johnson, Jozee's mother. "He's been able to do a lot for her. This year she really exploded. You definitely make sacrifices. She definitely does.

"It's something where she gives up being a kid and going to the pool. She'll ride four and five times a day. She does have to miss school and they've been supportive of her. Her homeroom teacher and principal texted me while we were out [in Kansas City] to see how she was doing.''

Also at Clouse Stables, Jozee rides for owners from around the country who want to sell their horses.

"Other people have asked her to catch ride for them, which is quite an honor,'' said Jennifer Johnson. "It's getting to be a bigger and bigger with some of the individuals getting involved. Michael Dell of Dell computers, they're putting a lot of funding into this breed. A lot of camps are being offered.''

Jozee said one day she hopes to compete internationally for Team USA and the University of Kentucky's equestrian team.

"I've had a great start,'' she said. "Just keep riding horses through life.''
