Prep roundup: Hurricane handles Point Pleasant 76-58

Henry Sorsaia picked up a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead host Hurricane to a 76-58 boys basketball win over Point Pleasant Saturday.

Trey Dawson also had 21 points for the Redskins (1-0) while Ace Estep chipped in 15. Wade Martin had 23 for the Big Blacks (0-2) and Dillon McCarty added 12.

  •    SUMMERS 72, SHADY 67: Ta-Ron Ayers netted 32 points for Summers County in the home win. T.J. Smith added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats (2-0). Chase Connor had 26 for Shady Spring (0-2).
  • TEAYS VALLEY 75, BALLARD 48: Elias Beacom scored 26 points and Justin Wojcieszak 22 to lead host Teays Valley Christian (2-1). For Ballard Christian, Josh Deskin had 15 points and Raven Spencer 10.
  • PARK. SOUTH 79, LINSLY 65: Doug Dennis exploded for 27 points as Parkersburg South cruised to a home win. Wes Mitchem added 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Patriots (1-0). Anthony Wallace netted a game-high 32 points for Linsly (0-1).
  • HAMPSHIRE 54, BUCKHANNON 51: Logan Hill scored 19 points and Travis Clower added 15 as Hampshire (1-2) earned an overtime road win. Dalton Westfall had a game-high 22 points for Buckhannon-Upshur (1-2).

  • PIPESTEM 65, TEAYS VALLEY 55: Austin Payton scored 26 points and Alex Lane added 24 for host Pipestem Christian. Ben Parsons totaled 18 points and Zach Moore 16 for Teays Valley Christian.

  • NICHOLAS 57, SISSONVILLE 47: Shealyn Shafer recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds as Nicholas County (4-0) won at home. Madison Jones scored 25 points for Sissonville (2-1).
  • GREEN. EAST 73, LINCOLN 47: Bianca Andre' poured in a game-high 24 points and Chaunte McDowell added 14 for Greenbrier East (3-0). Makala McEwayne scored 14 for Lincoln (1-1) while Hayley Hanning chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds.
  • CHAPMANVILLE 62, SHERMAN 34: Kristen DesRocher poured in a game-high 14 points to lead the visiting Tigers. Kaitlynn Hall, Jessica Rideout and Hailey Price added 10 points apiece for Chapmanville. For the Tide (1-1), Jordan Lewis scored 11 and Sarah Massey 10.

  • SCOTT 69, WILLIAMS-TOWN 66: Jaimee Dotson and Andrea Rankin each netted 16 points as Scott picked up a win over host Williamstown in the Donnie Fenton Shootout. Julie Conway also added 13 points for the Skyhawks (2-0). Kenzie Smith poured in 23 points for Williamstown (1-1).
  • TUG VALLEY 42, RIVER VIEW 33: Hannah Armstrong scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Tug Valley posted a road win. Amber Linville added 11 points and 13 boards for the Panthers (2-0). Kireston Dority netted a team-high 12 points for River View (0-3).
