The Golden Eagles (4-1 overall, 1-1 West Virginia Conference) earned a 90-70 win over Ohio Valley on Saturday in Charleston to register their first league win of the season.
The Pioneers (4-3, 2-2) are coming off back-to-back losses to West Virginia Wesleyan and at West Liberty on Saturday, but Glenville gave the No. 1 Hilltoppers their toughest test yet in a 105-98 defeat.

WVU TECH WRESTLING: WVU Tech wrestlers John Walters, Dirk Ponchak, and Chance Smith each qualified for the NAIA Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa on March 1-2 after completing the Turkey Bowl Tournament in Buena Vista, Va.
Smith won the 157-pound division and Ponchak took the 165-pound title while Walters made it to the finals in the 149-pound group before falling 10-5.
The Golden Bears finished in third place out of eight teams with 66 points, 20 behind winner Ferrum College and just eight behind second-place Liberty.
Tech will travel to Lexington, Va. to compete in the Washington and Lee University Invitational on Jan. 12.

HYCAT SWIMMING: The Huntington YMCA Charleston Aquatic Team (HYCAT) scored 1,174 points and rolled to a team win in the Tommy Bird Capital City Classic held at the University of Charleston over the weekend.
Eight-year-old Grant Ridenour was the overall high-point winner for HYCAT with 66 points while 7-year-old HYCAT swimmer Katerina Smith was the girls high-point winner with 63.
