CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Major League Soccer has announced Marshall keeper Daniel Withrow as one of 54 seniors invited to participate in the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine.
The Rochester Hills, Mich., native set both the single-season and career shutout records for the Thundering Herd this season, helped establish a new school record for longest shutout streak and was named Co-Conference USA Player of the Year, becoming the first Marshall player to receive the league's top honor since joining C-USA in 2004.
The combine will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Jan. 11-15.
All invited players will be eligible for selection in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 17 in Indianapolis.
MU TIP-OFF CLUB: Marshall's Tip-Off Club will hold its pregame tailgate at noon Saturday before the Thundering Herd plays Cincinnati at the Civic Center. The location is West Virginia Room 105 and admission is $10.

WVC FOOTBALL: West Virginia Wesleyan introduced George Shehl as the school's new football coach on Wednesday.
Shehl, a Clarksburg native who played at Robert C. Byrd High and West Virginia University, had been on the coaching staff at the University of Charleston, where he served as assistant head coach, special teams coach and defensive coordinator during the last two seasons.
Prior to his time in Charleston, Shehl worked as a graduate assistant at Marshall, West Virginia University and The Citadel.
