GW's Shreve wins state Gatorade volleyball honor

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- George Washington's Hannah Shreve was named the Gatorade West Virginia volleyball player of the year.

The 6-foot-3 senior middle blocker led the Patriots (48-10-3) to the Class AAA state championship with 438 kills, 158 blocks, 80 digs, 73 aces and 11 assists. The first-team all-state selection by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association compiled a .502 hitting percentage and a .585 kill percentage. Shreve has signed to play at West Virginia University.

Shreve has maintained a 4.71 grade-point average and donates her time as a youth volleyball instructor, volunteers locally for the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and disaster-relief efforts.
