Marshall's women's basketball team has nearly two weeks to fix what ails it after losing 67-51 at Navy on Sunday. The Thundering Herd (6-7) shot just 35.3 percent in closing the nonconference portion of the season.

Marshall held a 15-11 lead early, but Navy scored the next 11 points and later pushed the first-half lead to 32-18. The biggest lead was 19 points.

"We didn't play very well and they played better than we did," said coach Matt Daniel. "They are a good team and they've had some success in recent years. They do a good job, have good kids, and execute well. We have to go get a lot better."

Audrey Bauer led Navy (7-6) with 18 points and 12 rebounds, as the Midshipmen shot 52.1 percent and forced 13 turnovers. Jade Geif added 15 points, going 5-for-8 from the foul line.

Erica Woods scored a season-high 11 points and Norrisha Victrum had 11 for Marshall. Woods also led the Herd with seven rebounds.

The Herd will begin the Conference USA portion of its schedule against Southern Miss on Thursday, Jan. 10. The game will begin at 7 p.m. in Hattiesburg, Miss.
