Prep roundup: Moore leads Winfield girls past Capital 51-49

Haeley Moore scored 18 points and went 12 of 15 from the foul line to lead Winfield to a 51-49 girls basketball win over Capital Thursday.

Dashia Foster scored 16 points and Khadijah Lee finished with 11 in the loss for the Cougars (3-4). Winfield improved to 5-3.

  • NITRO 58, RIVERSIDE 55: Savannah Shamblin finished with 24 points to lead Nitro past visiting Riverside. Kelli Douglas added 15 points for the Wildcats (5-3). For Riverside (3-8), Brittany Wood tallied 24 points and Sheree Clayborn had 10.
  • HUNTINGTON 69, PRINCETON 65: Huntington jumped out to a 22-12 first-quarter lead and held on to defeat visiting Princeton. Kiana Evans netted 22 points for the Highlanders while Dominique Gibson chipped in 18. For the Tigers, McKenzie Akers tallied a game-high 27 points and Khadija Payne had 17.
  • CHAPMANVILLE 61, WAYNE 32: Kaitlyn Hall exploded for 22 points and nine rebounds as Chapmanville earned a home win. Kristin DesRocher contributed 17 points for the Tigers (5-3) while Tasha Maynard had 14 for the Pioneers.
  • TUG VALLEY 70, SHERMAN 57: Tug Valley held a 33-21 halftime lead en route to a road win Thursday. Whitney Evans-Kirk netted 23 points for the Panthers (5-1) while Hannah Armstrong added 16. Sarah Massey and Jordan Lewis had 17 and 12 points, respectively, for the Tide (3-4).
  • POCAHONTAS 65, RICHWOOD 28: Tristan Day had 14 points and Heather Snead 11 and Olivia Workman nearly pulled off a triple-double for visiting Pocahontas County (7-3). Workman ended with eight points, 10 rebounds, 11 steals and eight assists. Breanna Mazzella tallied 11 points and Hanna Brown 10 for Richwood (4-4).
  • TOLSIA 43, MINGO 35: Savannah Winnett had 16 points and 15 rebounds to go with Krista Maynard's 11 points and 11 rebounds as Tolsia (5-2) won at Mingo Central. For Mingo (3-5), Ashley Curry had 12 points.
  • TEAYS 35, LAKESIDE 34: Lakeside Christian (Ky.) used a 13-6 fourth-quarter run, but it wasn't enough as Teays Valley Christian held on for a home win. Gabby Harrah paced Teays Valley (3-2) with 19 points. Haley Skidmore had 17 points for Lakeside (11-3).

  • WILLIAMSTOWN 71, RAVENSWOOD 67: Kenzie Smith scored 14 points and Kathleen Cornell had 12 to lead Williamstown against visiting Ravenswood. Brooke Cieslewski chipped in with 11 points and Lauren Amos finished with 10 for the Yellow Jackets. Taylor Youell led Ravenswood with 18 points while Hailey Miller had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

  • TOLSIA 43, HOOVER 39: Tolsia used a 13-2 third-quarter run to down Herbert Hoover, earning the Rebels (5-1) a road win. Brandon Clark had 12 points for Tolsia while Austin Brewer and Morgan Stacy had 11 points apiece. Cody Morris netted a game-high 18 points for the Huskies (4-2).
  • PATRICK HENRY 82, MOUNT VIEW 53: Patrick Henry (Va.) ran out to a 40-16 halftime lead and never looked back for the home win. Tyus Esworthy had 13 points for Patrick Henry (10-0). Mount View (4-2) got 18 points from Maurice Brown.
  • RAVENSWOOD 61, TYLER 49: Jacob Barr hit 6 of 10 shots and scored a career-high 17 points to pace the host Red Devils (2-4). Heath Burgess added 13 points and Jake Martin 10 for Ravenswood. Tyler Consolidated (3-6) received 14 points from Dylan Romine and 12 each from Scott Sole and Darren Heinzman.
