Marshall cornerbacks coach leaving for USM job

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Marshall cornerbacks coach Lytrel Pollard is leaving the Herd coaching staff to go to Southern Mississippi, MU sources said Friday.

Pollard, a Southern Miss alumnus, is joining the staff of new coach Todd Monken.

That leaves three openings on Marshall coach Doc Holliday's staff. The defensive coordinator position is widely believed to be filled by Chuck Heater, the Temple coordinator who once worked alongside Holliday at Florida. Holliday also must replace former quarterbacks coach/co-coordinator Tony Petersen, who was named offensive coordinator under Skip Holtz at Louisiana Tech.
