Girls roundup: South Charleston storms past Ripley 66-25

South Charleston led by just four points after the first quarter but then broke the game open to pick up a 66-25 girls basketball win Friday at Ripley.

Taliah Cashwell and Lina Villanueva scored 13 points each for the Black Eagles (7-6), and Zhakiya Brown added 10. Sarah Williams had eight to lead Ripley.

  • HURRICANE 52, RIVERSIDE 48: Down by two points at halftime, Hurricane rallied to win at Riverside.
  • Abby Watson led the Redskins (5-5) with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Brooke Crompton had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Callie McClanahan checked in with 10 points.

    Brittany Wood led the Warriors (3-8) with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks. Rachel Mills added 12 points.

  • PARKERSBURG 71, NITRO 59: Parkersburg trailed by two at halftime but limited Nitro to three third-quarter points in rallying to victory at Parkersburg.
  • Imani Ward led the Big Reds (7-6) with 16 points, and Megan Morrison and Kennedy Walker added 15 each. Savannah Shamblin led the Wildcats (5-5) with 21 points, Halie Miller had 13 and Bethany Hill 10. 

  • CLAY 63, WIRT 44: Brittany Gould poured in 31 points as visiting Clay County (10-1) rolled to a win. McKinzee Barker chipped in 14 points for the Panthers. Amanda Clark led Wirt County with 23 points and Taylor Watson contributed 10.
  • SUMMERS 68, SHADY SPRING 28: Brandy Morrison scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Summers County (9-1).
  • Avery Pivont had 13 points and Brittany Bonds had 11 points for the Bobcats.

    For visiting Shady Spring, Kaylee Dickinson had 11 points to lead the Tigers.

  • SPRING VALLEY 67, PRINCETON 66: Kassidy Lemmons netted 17 points as Class AAA No. 7 Spring Valley upset No. 3 Princeton for a road win.
  • Mackenzie Morris scored 15 points for the Timberwolves, while Brooke Heck chipped in 14. McKenzie Akers led Princeton with a game-high 37 points.

  • PENDLETON 48, POCAHONTAS 45: Hillary Ward hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter to help Pendleton County rally from a two-point halftime deficit and defeat visiting Pocahontas County.
  • Ward finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Pendleton (4-5). Kaylee Edwards added 10 points.

    Bobbie McNabb contributed 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks for the Warriors (8-4). Tristan Day added 14 points.

    Pocahontas will play host to Charleston Catholic at 2 p.m. today.

  • GRACE 68, ELK VALLEY 66: Alex Nelson scored 32 points as Grace Christian eked out a win on the road. Jillian Salyers and Shelby Cicenas scored 12 each for Grace.
  • Chelsea Burdette paced Elk Valley Christian (5-6) with 30 points followed by Hannah Williams with 21 and Katie Burdette with 11.

  • CROSS LANES 52, OHIO VALLEY 23: Cross Lanes Christian built a 16-point first-quarter lead en route to victory at Ohio Valley Christian.
  • Courtney Kendrick led Cross Lanes (9-4) with 22 points and Julianna Lowery added 10. Kathryn Legg led the team with nine rebounds.

    Emily Carman had nine points for Ohio Valley (1-6).

    Thursday's girls game

  • ELK VALLEY 44, TEAYS VALLEY 36: Elk Valley Christian led 36-20 after three quarters and cruised to a road win, led by Chelsea Burdette's 16 points. Gabby Harrah led Teays Valley Christian with 19 points.
