  • WVSU TENNIS: The West Virginia State University women's team has announced it will play a special match against Radford University at The Greenbrier at 1 p.m. on March 3 as part of a weekend of team activities at the resort.

    A special room rate of $229 for tennis fans will be offered Saturday, March 2 for anyone wishing to spend the night before the match. Yellow Jacket fans can travel to the match on the Amtrak Cardinal train, which will leave Charleston at 8:20 a.m. the day of the match and arrive at The Greenbrier at 11:30 a.m. The train will depart the resort for Charleston at 5 p.m. Train fare is $25 each way and reservations can be made by contacting Amtrak at 304-342-6766 or at www.amtrak.com.

  • BOWLING: Galaxy Lanes will host two tournaments in the coming weeks. There will be a handicap singles tournament at 12:45 p.m. Saturday (handicaps will be based on 2012-2013 high league average with verification), and a scratch singles tournament on Saturday, Jan. 26.
