WVSU TENNIS: The West Virginia State University women's team has announced it will play a special match against Radford University at The Greenbrier at 1 p.m. on March 3 as part of a weekend of team activities at the resort.
A special room rate of $229 for tennis fans will be offered Saturday, March 2 for anyone wishing to spend the night before the match. Yellow Jacket fans can travel to the match on the Amtrak Cardinal train, which will leave Charleston at 8:20 a.m. the day of the match and arrive at The Greenbrier at 11:30 a.m. The train will depart the resort for Charleston at 5 p.m. Train fare is $25 each way and reservations can be made by contacting Amtrak at 304-342-6766 or at www.amtrak.com.

BOWLING: Galaxy Lanes will host two tournaments in the coming weeks. There will be a handicap singles tournament at 12:45 p.m. Saturday (handicaps will be based on 2012-2013 high league average with verification), and a scratch singles tournament on Saturday, Jan. 26. Terrale Clark led Tech (11-9) with 22 points. Kornilous Donnell finished with 17 points, Jaren Marino had 14 and David Rawlinson scored 12. Rawlinson led Tech with eight assists.
Egor Shakhmetov led Lynchburg with 22 points and nine rebounds.
The Golden Bears' next game is Tuesday at Barber-Scotia College.
nnWVU FOOTBALL: West Virginia's Tavon Austin added another award to his resume Wednesday when he was named the 2012 Jet Award Return Specialist winner.
Austin averaged more then 25 yards per kickoff return this season, returned both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns and was second in the country with more than 220 all-purpose yards per game. Hawaii junior Mike Edwards and Missouri sophomore Marcus Murphy were the other finalists for the award.
The Jet Award honors the best return specialist in college football and is voted on by a selection committee made up of football writers and broadcasters as well as Johnny Rodgers, the 1972 Heisman Trophy winner from Nebraska after whom the award is named.
