  • MSL DRAFT: Marshall goalkeeper Daniel Withrow and West Virginia defender Eric Schoenle were each selected in the Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft on Tuesday.

Schoenle, who played 75 games for the Mountaineers and scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists during his career from his centerback position, was picked by Philadelphia Union with the 12th pick of the first round. He joins former Mountaineer Raymon Gaddis, who was selected by Philadelphia in the second round last year.

Withrow, a three-time first team All-Conference USA selection and co-conference player of the year this season, was taken with the 66th overall pick and is the third Marshall player drafted into MLS along with Jeremy Ashe (drafted by Chicago in 2006) and Byron Carmichael (Kansas City in 2003).

The MLS Supplemental Draft comes after the MLS SuperDraft. The supplemental draft allows only players who have finished their college eligibility and have been nominated by an MLS club as well as youth internationals made available to MLS.
