Tech Hall of Famer Jim Lively dies

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- James "Jim'' Lively Sr., who quarterbacked the only undefeated football team in WVU Tech history in 1949, has died.

After graduating from Tech in 1950 and earning a Masters of Science degree from West Virginia University, Lively taught biology and coached all sports at Mount Hope High School from 1950-55. He was named the WVU Tech Alumni of the Year in 1972 and also served as president of the WVU Tech Alumni Association. Lively was a Tech Hall of Fame inductee in 1983.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill. There will be no visitation.
