Dunning led the Mountaineers (14-9, 6-6 Big 12) in scoring for the fifth time this season and led in rebounding, with nine boards, for the 10th time. Christal Caldwell chipped in 15 points, while Crystal Leary and Darius Faulk combined for 15 points off the bench. Carolyn Davis' 14 points guided the Jayhawks (14-8, 5-6), while Chelsea Gardner added 11 points.
Adams topped her personal-best throw of 18.04 meters that she recorded two weeks ago and now owns the top three spots for weight throw in program history.
Petra Zublasing stood out in her final Mountaineer home match, as she opened the competition with a school-record 594 (199 prone, 197 standing, and 198 kneeling) smallbore score.
She nearly shot a school record in air rifle, too, but she dropped her final shot of the relay, finishing with a season-best mark of 599. Zublasing's aggregate total of 1193 is a school record.
COLLEGE TRACK: Winfield's Megan Truelove helped Wheeling Jesuit's distance medley relay team blow away the school record at a major indoor meet Saturday at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.
The foursome, which includes two other West Virginians, made a strong bid to qualify for the Division II national meet, scheduled for March 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala. The Cardinals finished in 12 minutes, 2 seconds, the fifth-best time in the nation to date.
Truelove ran the 1,600-meter led in 5:06. The other runners are Jennifer McFarland of St. Marys, 3:38 in the 1,200 leg; Lindsey Mills of Fairmont, 2:19 in the 800 leg; and Olivia Lent of Zanesville, Ohio, 56.0 in the 400 leg.
They clipped 17 seconds off the school record set a week ago at the Division II Team Challenge in Geneva, Ohio, a 12:19 mark that ranked 19th in the nation.
