Boys roundup: Sharp-shooting Winfield downs St. Albans 72-56
Winfield hit 28 of 45 shots from the floor, including 10 for 18 from 3-point range, and defeated visiting St. Albans 72-56 in boys basketball Monday night.
Chris Turner led the Generals (11-8) with 21 points while Bear Bellomy (16), Zach Fisher (13) and Jake Lemmerman (10) also finished in double figures.
Nathan McNeil had 21 points for St. Albans and Taylor Clark and Tanner Aliff each added 11.
With the win, the Patriots (14-4) wrap up a spot in the Mountain State Athletic Conference Night of Champions on Saturday at the South Charleston Community Center. GW plays Hurricane in the boys second-place game at 4 p.m.
For Parkersburg, Dru Aldridge tallied 25 points.
Davis and Austin Brewer both finished with 16 points for Tolsia (13-6) while Brandon Clark had 13.
For the Indians (7-12), Zach Null posted 18 points while Ryan Kelly had 12 and Trent Stowers had 11.
Keyshawn Payne added 18 points and Raeshawn Breckenridge 17 for the Greyhounds (12-6).
Jared Tharp led all scorers with 29 points for Nicholas County (8-9) while Eric Peyatt tallied 18 and Austin Hill 12.
Michael Yost chipped in with 16 points for Class AA No. 1 Bluefield (17-2) followed by Lykel Collier with 13, D.J. Edwards and Corey Coppola with 12 apiece and Matthew Woodrum with 10.
Matt Dolan's 25 points was tops for Scott (11-8). Eric May contributed 17 points for the Skyhawks and Anthony Sigmon 12.
Robel Ali added 14 points and Scott Graham 10 to the winning cause.
Ishmyle Sawyers led Mount View with 18 points and Maurice Brown scored 13.
For the Raiders (13-5), Jacob Neal tallied 10 points. Clay led at halftime 17-15.
Tyler Corbin notched 20 points for the host Warriors (16-9) while Grant Humphrey chipped in 18 and Austin Davis 10. T.G. Miller scored 20 points for Ohio Valley Christian (10-8) and Chance Burelson added 14.
