Roundup: Slumping UC, W.Va. State play tonight
Advertiser

West Virginia State and the University of Charleston both play today looking to end two-game losing streaks against teams from the bottom of the West Virginia Conference standings.

State (9-15, 6-12 WVC) enters today's contest at Ohio Valley having lost at home to Fairmont State and at Alderson-Braoddus in its last two contests. In its last game, State was led by Raymon Austin with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

When Ohio Valley (3-21, 2-16) visited Institute in late January, the Fighting Scots limited Austin to five points and a 2-of-8 shooting performance, but couldn't stop the Jackets from cruising to a 90-66 win.

UC (15-7, 11-7) will try to right its ship when Bluefield State visits UC tonight following consecutive losses to Pitt Johnstown and league-leading West Liberty.

The Golden Eagles have fallen to fourth place in the league, trailing West Liberty, second-place Fairmont State and A-B.

Bluefield State (3-19, 3-15 WVC) visited UC in early December with the Golden Eagles winning 107-70. Charleston outscored Bluefield 51-18 in the first half of that game and was led by Terrell Lipkins (21 points, 16 rebounds) and Xavier Humphrey (20 points, eight rebounds).
