  • MU WOMEN WIN: Marshall led by as many as 14 points and never trailed as the Herd women's basketball team defeated visiting East Carolina 72-60.

    For Marshall (9-16, 3-9 Conference USA), four players scored in double figures with Erica Woods and Leandra King each tallying 15 points while Suporia Dickens and Norrisha Victrum each added 12 in the win. Celeste Stewart led ECU (18-7, 8-4) with 13 points.

    The Herd plays again Sunday when it hits the road to visit Rice.

  • MU BASEBALL: Marshall got out to a three-run lead in the first inning but could not hold off North Carolina A&T, which defeated the Thundering Herd 10-7 Thursday in Greensboro, N.C.

    Junior Josh Ganus pitched seven innings and allowed eight hits with four earned runs while walking four and striking out four to earn the win for the Aggies. Marshall's Ryan Hopkins allowed four runs (two earned) and six hits in 22/3 innings for the loss.

  • MU SWIMMING: Marshall's Danica Ross tied the school record in the preliminary race of the 50 freestyle at the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Houston.

    Ross finished seventh with a time of 23.37, tying Milla Kuurto's mark from 2003 and advancing to the finals of the event.
