PEORIA, Ariz. -- Former West Virginia star Jedd Gyorko hit a grand slam in his first spring training at bat, keying the San Diego Padres' six-run first inning in a 9-3 win over Seattle Friday.

Gyorko started at second base for the Padres and came out after four innings. He wound up his day by pairing up with Everth Cabrera, taking ground balls with the shortstop on a nearby field.
