Roundup: Tech closes regular season with victory

MU BASEBALL: The second and third games of Marshall's series at North Carolina A&T, scheduled for Saturday, have been postponed to today because of rain in the Greensboro, N.C. area. The series will conclude with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon.

  • TECH BASEBALL: WVU Tech picked up its first win of the season, defeating Ohio Valley 14-4 at East Bank.

    The Golden Bears (1-6) were bolstered by the pitching of Taylor Carter, who registered 16 strikeouts in eight innings. Carter did not allow a hit until a leadoff double in the eighth before striking out the side in his final inning of work.

    Tech's Kevin Bocock, Ryan Kessinger and former Capital High product Eric Stone each had three hits for Tech, which will host Cincinnati Clermont for a doubleheader today beginning at noon at East Bank.

  • WVU WRESTLING: In its final home match of the season, West Virginia was defeated Saturday by No. 16 Edinboro 29-9 at the WVU Coliseum.

    Senior Shane Young (125-pounds) began the match with a victory for the Mountaineers, as he defeated Edinboro's Kory Mines 4-2. At 157 pounds, freshman Jason Luster scored an 8-6 win over Casey Fuller.
