Area roundup: WVU women top Kansas State

Ayana Dunning and Christal Caldwell netted 15 points apiece as the West Virginia University women's basketball team downed Kansas State 66-57 Thursday at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.

Jess Harlee chipped in 11 points for the Mountaineers (17-10). Kansas State (13-15) was paced by Brittany Chambers with 36 points.

  • The Big 12 Conference has named 98 student-athletes to the Academic All-Big 12 swimming and diving teams, including 18 West Virginia Mountaineers.
  • West Virginia's 16 first-team honorees are Rachael Burnett, Breanna McCann, Mandie Nugent, Sloan Storie, Eva Burlingham, Hayley Kidd, Liam McLaughlin, Peter Murto, Christopher Brill, Nathan Cobbe, Julie Ogden, Jennifer Rey, Meredith Rogers, Haily Van dePoel, David Palley and Jenelle Zee.

    Second-team honorees include Austen Carrington and Daeton Davenport. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade-point average, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
