Riley Metz and Tate Brock each homered and drove in three runs for the Redskins and Alexander Dunham had three hits with a double and two RBIs.
Dominic Walker and Austin Casto doubled for the Indians.
CLAY 10, SHERMAN 4: Clay County used a pair of three-run innings to best visiting Clay County. Jimmy Brogan went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Panthers (1-0) while Cooper Osborne added three hits and drove home two runs. John Hunter had a single and double for the Tide (0-1).
RIVERSIDE 18, RAVENS-WOOD 3: Cameron Norris and Tyler Hall each had a single and a double and combined to drive in five runs as Riverside ran away with a five-inning mercy-rule win on the road in both teams' season opener. Aaron Halstead and Brandon Hancock each drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors. James Lee Carmichael had an RBI for the Red Devils.
HANNAN 10, CROSS LANES 9: Matt Randolph scored on an error as visiting Hannan escaped with a road win. Tyler Jenkins hit a pair of solo home runs to lead Hannan. Chad Williams and Ethan Stepp each had three hits for Cross Lanes Christian with Williams driving in three runs.
HURRICANE 15, CAPITAL 0: Hurricane scored 10 runs in the first inning and starting pitcher Courtney Rogers fanned six batters and held visiting Capital to one hit as the Redskins beat the Cougars in three innings. For Hurricane (1-0), Madison Casto went 3 for 3 with a double and two stolen bases while Nicole Pierson, Cassi Sargent, Rogers, Addie Fullen and Emily Davis each had two hits. Haley King took the loss for Capital (0-1).
RIVERSIDE 10, WAHAMA 1: Alisha Burton had two hits as Riverside earned a mercy-rule road win over Wahama. Destiny Smith chipped in two hits for the Warriors (1-0). Bailey Hicks went 2 for 3 for Wahama (0-1).
SISSONVILLE 13, MINGO 0: Sissonville scored 10 runs in the first inning as the Indians secured a mercy-rule road win over Mingo Central. Abbey Jordan went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for Sissonville (1-0) and Jamie Holmes added a pair of hits and drove home a run. Bekah Baldwin went the distance for the Indians, notching 11 strikeouts. Kiearia Hammond had the lone hit for Mingo Central (0-1).
SC 7, HUNTINGTON 4: Allie Burdette rapped out three hits as South Charleston secured a road win. Amanda McDonald went 3 for 3 for the SC (1-0).
SPRING VALLEY 6, WINFIELD 5: Jodi Spurlock hit a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning as Spring Valley pulled out a road win. Brooke Jackson and Alex Milam paced the Timberwolves (1-0) with two hits each. Katie Legg went 2 for 5 with three RBIs for the Generals (0-1) while Taylor Raines added a pair of hits, including a triple.
