Prep roundup: Hurricane scores 10-0 mercy win over Ripley

Connor Adams went 3 for 3, ripping a double and triple and driving in four runs Tuesday night to lead host Hurricane to a 10-0, six-inning baseball victory against Ripley.

Also for the Redskins (2-1), Riley Metz was 2 for 3. J.T. Rogoszewski limited the Vikings to four hits and fanned 10 in the abbreviated shutout. Chris Jordan doubled for Ripley.

  • SISSONVILLE 6, CATHOLIC 4: Dominic Walker went 3 for 3 and drove home a run as Sissonville downed visiting Charleston Catholic. Jacob Fisher added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Indians (2-2). Kiefer Hovorka and Drew Cable each had two hits and an RBI for the Fighting Irish (0-1).
  • HOOVER 13, WINFIELD 9: Herbert Hoover exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning as the Huskies earned a season-opening road win. Corey Bird paced Hoover (1-0), going 3 for 4 with a double and RBI while Ryan Shamblin and Scooter Farmer each contributed a pair of hits. Mason Dillon notched three hits for the Generals (2-1) and Jordan Clark and Bear Bellomy had two hits apiece.
  • VALLEY 10, SUMMERS 0: Joseph Eckert pitched a five-inning shutout, allowing two hits, and Arik McGinnis (3 for 3, two doubles, homer, six RBIs) led the hitting for the visiting Greyhounds (3-0). Also for Valley, Druw Bowen was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs.
  • POCA 4, WAYNE 1: Jake Payne combined with two relievers on a no-hitter for the visiting Dots. Dante' Barnett and Ryan Leighton worked three innings of hitless relief. Noah Frampton and Cam Cottrill had two hits each for Poca (1-0), with Cottrill driving in three runs.

  • LINCOLN COUNTY 6, SC 3: Brooke West gave up three runs on four hits with 14 strikeouts as Lincoln County picked up a road win. Morgan Hutchinson went 2 for 3 for the Panthers (2-1). Merridith Cain had two hits and an RBI for the Black Eagles (0-1).
  • WAYNE 1, SCOTT 0: Jacey Parsons' one-out double in the bottom of the sixth scored Jessica Watts with the game's only run for the host Pioneers (1-2). Jessie Rowe outdueled Scott's Ally Brown, firing a three-hit shutout to Brown's four-hitter.
