With the shifting of several schools with strong girls basketball programs from Class AAA, this year's AA first team may be one of the deepest.
Captaining the first team is Bridgeport's Miki Glenn.
One of the top players in the state, regardless of classification, Glenn earns the honor for the second straight year, having captained the AAA first team last season.
Glenn was humbled by being chosen as a captain again.
"It's something special,'' she said. "It's not like that happens every day or every year for some people. But to be considered the top player in your division is definitely something special, and I thank God every day for giving me the skills I need to be successful in my life.''
All the Indians senior point guard did this season was take a team that had been gutted by graduation and injury and lead it to a 25-2 record and a state title - the first girls basketball title in the school's history. That, while becoming Bridgeport's all-time leader in points scored, assists and steals.
Glenn, playing with four first-year starters, averaged 23.4 points and 7.0 rebounds. It was her game-management skills, though, that elevated her to an elite level as she also dished out 5.0 assists per game, averaged 4.4 steals and shot 84 percent from the free-throw line.
The only game Bridgeport lost with Glenn in the lineup this season was against University. Glenn exited that game at halftime with an injury with the Indians leading.
Joining Glenn as a AAA first-team player dropping to the AA first team was Robert C. Byrd's Alicia Noble. The senior forward averaged 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds while becoming RCB's all-time leading scorer and leading the Flying Eagles to an 18-5 record.
Two players return to the first team from last season in Westside's Hope Lester and Tolsia's Krista Maynard.

Lester led the Renegades to a 25-2 mark and a runner-up finish this season. The sophomore center averaged 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds as a dominating force in the paint.
Maynard, a junior, averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.5 steals for a Rebels squad that finished 21-4.
Nicholas County's Shealyn Shafer, Ritchie County's Tristin Toman, Clay County's McKinzee Barker and Pike View's Hope Nestor each advanced from second-team choices last year to first-team selections this season.
Shafer was a AAA pick last year, but had an even stronger season this year at the AA level. The senior center averaged 20.5 points, 12.3 boards, 5.1 steals and 3.2 assists as the Grizzlies advanced to the state semifinals before ending the season at 21-4.
Toman is the top scorer on the first team. The senior guard averaged 23.7 points for the Rebels, who went 13-10, to go with 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.3 assists per game.
Barker, a sophomore guard, averaged 13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.7 steals and 6.2 assists while leading the Panthers to a 19-7 record and a berth in the state tournament.
Nestor, a junior guard, tallied 14.9 points, 2.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game en route to a 14-11 record for the Panthers and a trip to the state tourney.
The second team is captained by Westside's Danielle Brown.
Braxton County's Hunter Sodaro and Lincoln's Emily Knight move up from the third team to second team while the remainder of the squad includes North Marion's Anna Marie Moscufo, Liberty Harrison's Heather Hickman, Fairmont Senior's Emily Stoller, Sissonville's Madison Jones and Tolsia's Savannah Winnett.
RCB's Sarah Barksdale captain's the third team, which consists of Clay County's Brittany Gould, Scott's Jaimee Dotson, Summers County's Tyra Wynes, Berkeley Springs' Sarah Haynes, North Marion's Audia Bartlett, PikeView's Lyndsey Hatfield and Lincoln's Hayley Haning.
