Payne, who finished her four-year career with 1,493, led the Greyhounds to the state tournament for the first time since 1991 this past season. She was a Class A first-team all-state selection after averaging 24.6 points per game.

  • MU SOCCER: The Marshall men's team received two plaques from the NCAA this week for leading the country in statistical categories. The Herd was No. 1 in the nation with a 0.898 save percentage, and goalkeeper Daniel Withrow, now with Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew, was the national individual leader with a 0.895 save percentage.

  • BASEBALL CLINIC: The Buffalo High baseball staff will conduct a Little League clinic at the school on Saturday for children ages six through 14. The clinic will be split into two groups, with ages 6-10 from 9 a.m. until noon and 11-14 from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $40. For more information, contact coach Jim Tribble at 304-415-1124.
