Jeff Wong gave up four runs on five hits while striking out 10 as George Washington (3-0) downed host Princeton 11-4 Friday in prep baseball.
Wong also contributed at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, while Connor Moffatt had three hits and drove home three runs and Grant Wooten blasted a homer. For Princeton (1-2), Bryson Allan and Josh Perry each had extra-base hits.
VALLEY 11, OAK HILL 1: Druw Bowen scattered four hits and struck out 14 to lead host Valley past Oak Hill in six innings.
Bowen surrendered three singles, a triple, one walk and one earned run. Raeshawn Breckenridge went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs for the Greyhounds (4-1), while Cody Winter doubled, homered and knocked in a pair. Valley's Joseph Eckert went 2-for-3 with a round-tripper and two RBIs. Chris Dennler tripled for the Red Devils (0-1).
SISSONVILLE 4, WAYNE 1: Sissonville produced three runs in the third inning as the Indians downed visiting Wayne. Jacob Fisher went 3 for 3 with an RBI for Sissonville (3-2). Zach Cassidy had a pair of hits for the Pioneers (1-2).
SC 5, SPRING VALLEY 4: South Charleston scored three times in the top of the seventh as the Black Eagles rallied for a road win. Jonathan Pauley smacked a double for the Black Eagles (2-0). Austin Robertson had a double for the Timberwolves (0-1).
WINFIELD 8, CABELL MIDLAND 2: Winfield erupted for six runs in the fifth inning and cruised to a home win. Brandon Wright went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Winfield, while Tanner Bailey added a pair of hits. Cody Ballengee went 1 for 2 for the Knights.
PARK. SOUTH 2, NITRO 1: Brad Brubaker gave up one run on three hits over 41/3 innings as Parkersburg South edged visiting Nitro. Jordan Braniff had a pair of hits including a double for the Patriots. Solomon Shamblin, Evan Eich and Tyler Barton each had one hit for the Wildcats.
TUG VALLEY 13, HANNAN 3: Tug Valley scored five runs in the first and fourth innings as the Panthers won at home.
Josh Cassell went 2 for 3 with four RBIs for Tug Valley while David Runyon had a pair of hits. Tyler Jenkins had two hits for Hannan.
CHAPMANVILLE 9, POINT 5: Tristan Thompson went 2 for 3 as Chapmanville (2-0) picked up a home win. Alex Somerville and Jacob Gardner each had two hits for Point Pleasant (1-2).
LOGAN 11, SCOTT 0: Johnny Morrison and Troy Burgess combined on a two-hit shutout as the visiting Wildcats downed the Skyhawks in their season opener.
Morrison fanned 10 in four innings while Burgess whiffed four in three innings. Zach Minnick went 4 for 4 with two homers and five RBIs for Logan while Kyle Harvey drove in two RBIs. Scott dropped to 1-1.
CROSS LANES SWEEPS: Ian George earned the save in the opening game and the win in the nightcap and Chad Williams drove in five runs in the two games as host Cross Lanes Christian rang up a 14-0, 10-0 doubleheader sweep of debuting Teays Valley Christian.
Ethan Stepp and George combined on a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the five-inning opener for Cross Lanes (2-3). In the second game, George and Lee McQuain teamed up for the five-inning shutout as Josh Pauley, Stepp, George and McQuain donated two hits each.
LINCOLN COUNTY 11, SPRING VALLEY 1: Brooke West went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles as Lincoln County earned a four-inning mercy-rule win. Amy Lambert and Sarah Barrett each had two-run home runs for the Panthers (3-1). Jade Spurlock had a pair of hits for the Timberwolves (1-4) including a home run.
WAYNE 10, RUSSELL 2: Jessie Rowe fired a five-inning five-hitter and fanned eight for the host Pioneers (3-2). Emily Fry had her second straight two-hit game, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Kasey Endicott slugged her third homer of the season.
BUFFALO 10, WAHAMA 0: Ali Burdette pitched a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead the host Bison (3-0). Katie Higginbotham and Katie Allen each rapped out a pair of hits for Buffalo.
RIVERSIDE 9, WOODROW WILSON 1: The host Warriors plated five runs in the bottom of the first en route in the five-inning win.
Kailey Garten knocked in three runs for Riverside (5-2) and Felicia Burton had two RBIs. The Warriors' Sara Winter fanned 11 and gave up just three singles.
SCOTT 3, SISSONVILLE 1: Ally Brown allowed one run on four hits with seven punchouts as the host Skyhawks downed the Indians.
Brown also went 2-for-3 and drove in a run while Allyson Johnson rapped out two hits, including a double, with an RBI. Karli Pinkerton doubled for Sissonville.
SHERMAN 8, CHAPMANVILLE 2: Baylee Harless and Jordan Lewis each stroked three hits and Kylie Wells tossed a five-hitter to pace the host Tide (1-1).
Mackenzie Smith and Tory May donated two hits apiece for Sherman. Lauryn Easterling and Talya Berry were each 2-for-4 for the Tigers (2-1).
POINT 11, POCA 1: Point Pleasant exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning as the Big Blacks won at home.
Karissa Cochran went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for Point Pleasant (1-0) while Josie Fisher and Casey Riffle added two hits and two RBIs apiece. Natalie Parkins and Rachel Yates had the lone hits for Poca (0-1).
ST. ALBANS 12, NITRO 4: Mariah Caudill had two hits and drove in a run and Ali Haynes went the distance with five strikeouts for the visiting Red Dragons (3-0). Nichole Brown and Melissa Belcher each went 2 for 3 for the Wildcats (1-2).
