Roundup: Musgrave wins again for Mountaineers
Sophomore Harrison Musgrave won his third consecutive start as West Virginia used two big innings to beat New Orleans 12-2 Friday afternoon at Hawley Field in Morgantown.
Musgrave threw five shutout innings, allowing three hits with two strikeouts and two walks, before handing the ball over to relievers Dan Dierdorff and Josh Harlow for the final four innings. Alex Smith took the loss for New Orleans after allowing 10 runs on 10 hits in five innings.
WVU and the Privateers will complete the four-game series today with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon.
WVSU BASEBALL: West Virginia State split a doubleheader against Davis & Elkins on Friday at Triana Field in Charleston. The Yellow Jackets won the first game 5-3 and dropped the second game by the same score.
State (10-13, 9-6 West Virginia Conference) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held off a late Senators rally to claim the opener. Russell Thompson struck out six in six innings to get the win.
D&E starter Taylor Hyssong allowed just three hits and struck out six to get the win in the second game. The teams will conclude the three-game series today at noon.

The newest Hall of Famers are two National Football League linemen with the Los Angeles Rams - Dennis Harrah and the late Charles Cowan.
