Prep roundup: St. Albans sweeps Clay County
PENFIELD 8, SCOTT 4: Abby Dennett went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Penfield (N.Y.) bested Scott in the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach. Kellian Strange and Kaila Craddock had two hits apiece for the Skyhawks.
VALLEY 12, LIBERTY 11: John Riddle singled home the winning run as the Greyhounds downed Liberty Raleigh at Epling Field in Beckley.
Druw Bowen went 2 for 5 with a double, triple and four RBIs for Valley (7-2) while Arik McGinnis and Cody Winter each had three hits. Dylan Keel posted two hits and drove home three runs for the Patriots (6-1).
VALLEY 13, MAN 3: Cody Winter went 4 for 4 with a round-tripper with two doubles and two RBIs for the host Greyhounds. Raeshawn Breckenridge and Druw Bowen added homers for Valley (8-2).
Cayce Mullins went 3 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs for the Hillbillies.
LINCOLN CO. 7, MINGO 6: Lincoln County scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to escape with a home win. Brynnan Fakourey went 3 for 4 for the Panthers (5-1) while Colby Brogan and Aaron Taylor each smacked a home run. Joe May went 2 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBIs for the Miners.
HOOVER 8, SISSONVILLE 1: Matt Justice scattered seven hits and allowed one run as visiting Herbert Hoover downed the Indians. Corey Bird went 2 for 2 with two RBIs for the Huskies (10-0), while and Ryan Shamblin knocked in a pair. Zach Null banged out two hits for Sissonville (5-7).
BRIGHTON 10, CLAY 4: Ryan O'Connor belted a pair of hits as visiting Brighton (N.Y.) downed Clay County. Ethan Smith had a double and RBI for the Panthers (5-3).
CONWAY 14, SC 1: Conway (S.C.) plated seven runs in the second as the Tigers sailed to a win over South Charleston in the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Grant Holmes went 2 for 2 with a double and a pair of RBIs for Conway. Jonathan Cline had two hits for the Black Eagles.
LINCOLN CO. 12, TUG 6: Colby Brogan went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs as Lincoln County won at home.
Tyler Jeffers also added a pair of hits and drove home two runs for Lincoln. Trevin Horn and David Runyon had two hits and an RBI apiece for Tug Valley.
