Former Bridgeport standout Harrison Musgrave earned the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week award for his shutout win at Texas on Friday.
The lefty allowed six hits and two walks while striking out nine as the Mountaineers earned a 1-0 win. Musgrave is now 6-1 on the year with a 2.70 ERA and is riding a five-game win streak.
It is the second such award for Musgrave, who won it on March 25 after striking out 13 against Texas Tech.
State's Best shares WVC softball award
West Virginia State's Mattie Best shared the West Virginia Conference softball player of the week award with Concord's Becca Gleason.
Best posted a .571 batting average in four games and added three home runs and 13 RBIs as the Yellow Jackets nailed down second place in the league standings.
West Virginia Wesleyan's Jacqui Omichiinski and Fairmont State's Chelsea Cobb shared the league's pitcher of the week award.
Cobb, a former South Charleston standout, went 4-1 with two shutouts, 29 strikeouts, and just five walks for the first-place Falcons.
