WVU's Musgrave earns second national honor
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia University's Harrison Musgrave was selected for the second time this season as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association pitcher of the week Tuesday.
Musgrave, a former standout at Bridgeport High School, fired a three-hit shutout with a career-high 14 strikeouts in leading the Mountaineers past TCU 2-0 Saturday. The sophomore left-hander retired 15 consecutive batters from the third through the eighth innings.
Chosen the Big 12 pitcher of the week for the fourth time Monday, Musgrave is 8-1 with a 2.14 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 881/3 innings. He has three shutouts in 13 starts and has won seven straight decisions, including a 4-0 mark (with a 1.02 ERA) in Big 12 games.
