SALISBURY, Md. - Designated hitter Stetson Allie drove in five runs on two doubles and a seventh-inning home run Tuesday as the West Virginia Power beat the Delmarva Shorebirds 11-0 in the first game of a South Atlantic League doubleheader.
The Power (34-29) entered the night 21/2 games behind Hickory in the Northern Division.
In the second game, the Power led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh and final inning at press time.
In the opener, West Virginia first baseman Walker Gourley and shortstop Max Moroff each drove in two runs, and center fielder Barrett Barnes and second baseman Dilson Herrera batted in one run apiece.
Power Starter Joely Rodriguez (5-4) earned his fifth victory with four strikeouts in five shutout innings.
The Power is set to play another doubleheader at Delmarva (26-34) today, with the first game beginning at 5:05 p.m.
In the nightcap, the Power plated three runs in the top of the sixth to go up 4-3, scoring on hits by Josh Bell, Eric Wood and Raul Fortunato.
