CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato was one of 50 players from around the country named Friday to the Walter Camp player of the year award watch list.
It's the junior's fourth nomination to a preseason watch list. The Miami native previously was chosen to the Maxwell, Davey O'Brien and College Football Performance award lists.
Cato, the first underclassman in Conference USA history to be named the league's MVP, led the nation in completions (406) and passing yards per game (350.1) last season. His 37 touchdowns ranked third nationally while his 69.5 completion percentage was fourth and his 352.7 yards of total offense per game were fifth. Cato also led C-USA in passing efficiency (147.1).
