LEXINGTON, Ky. - Dilson Herrera hit a home run and scored twice to lead the West Virginia Power to a 4-1 win over the Lexington Legends 4-1 Friday night.
The Power jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to runs scored by Herrera and Max Moroff. Herrera provided run support again in the seventh inning with a solo home run and Walker Gourley provided an insurance run in the eighth inning.
Gourley, Moroff and left fielder Luis Urena each recorded two hits while Herrera, first baseman Jordan Steranka, designated hitter Eric Wood and catcher Francisco Diaz each provided one hit for the Power.
Power ace John Kuchno (6-5) earned the win after striking out six in six innings. Jhondaniel Medina notched his fourth save after retiring the side in order in the ninth inning.
The win puts The Power (20-12) in first place of the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League, one game ahead of the Hagerstown Suns (20-14), who fell to Delmarva 5-1 Friday.
The Power will play a doubleheader today against Lexington, with the first game beginning at 5:35 p.m. and the nightcap, a makeup of the July 7 game that was postponed, following its completion.
