Power wins fifth straight
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Power won its fifth consecutive game Friday night, a 10-1 blowout of the Lakewood BlueClaws in front of over 5,200 fans at Appalachian Power Park.
Right fielder Josh Bell and third baseman Eric Wood each scored two runs on two and three hits, respectively. Wood also drove in three runs. Designated hitter Dilson Herrera hit a home run as part of his two-run, two-RBI night.
Shortstop Max Moroff, first baseman Jordan Steranka, center fielder Walker Gourley and catcher Kawika Emsley-Pai each scored a run in the victory.
Starter Jason Creasy (3-3) was the benefactor of the hot Power bats, allowing just one earned run while striking out six through six innings.
West Virginia (26-14) remains in first place of the South Atlantic League's Northern Division, 11/2 games ahead of the Hagerstown Suns. The Power will play the second game of its four-game series with Lakewood at 7:05 p.m. today.
