CHARLESTON, S.C. - Greg Bird hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 11th inning to lead Charleston past West Virginia 3-2 Tuesday at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Ballpark.
Bird finished the evening with three hits including a home run and a pair of RBIs for Charleston (29-29). Jose Campos (3-2) earned the win in relief, allowing no runs or hits over two innings.
The Power (35-22) didn't generate much offense in the game. The top four batters in the lineup, Max Moroff, Walker Gourley, Josh Bell and Dilson Herrera, went a combined 1 for 18. Luis Urena and Francisco Diaz had two hits apiece with Urena belting a double and triple.
Jhondaniel Medina (2-2) was tabbed with the loss, allowing one run on one hit in two innings of relief for West Virginia, which remains in second place in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League, just a half game behind Hagerstown.
The Power continues its three-game series with Charleston tonight at 7:05.
