CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A $1,000 scholarship in memory of former Capital football coach Jack Woolwine has been added to the lineup for tonight's Cougars' football opener at Laidley Field. The scholarship will go to a deserving football team member.
Last year, Capital announced that its home football opener every season would be called the Jack D. Woolwine Jr. Memorial Game and that a $1,000 check would be presented to a local cancer treatment organization or palliative treatment organization in research or care of those who suffer from pancreatic cancer. Woolwine died of the disease last year.
His wife, Laura, will be on hand for tonight's presentation, which will go to Hospice. The ceremony is set for 7:15, with the Capital-Riverside game to follow at 7:30.
